Victory Rwanda 2012 Day 1
BCC Rwanda Mission Day 1 got off to a great start despite a rough morning! The team was excited to finally depart--after over a year in planning. We departed with 20 bags of luggage. 9 bags are full of our personal belongings with the other 11 carrying supplies for Victory Family Home of Champions, and City of Joy Ministries. Yes, we are over our bag allowance by 2 pieces. But, the reason is a good one! We are carrying 36 hardcover study Bibles for the children of Victory Home. All together, the Bibles weighed 126 pounds. How cool is it that Bibles from BCC will have a direct impact on children in Rwanda. During the next few weeks, we'll be using those same Bibles for various Bible studies, too!
The rough morning came when our adjunct mission team member went to pick-up the U-Haul trailer. The trailer was simply not there--it was not returned by the previous renter--and then that same renter refused to answer his phone! After almost 4 hours of seeking the van, Corey went to Berwick to obtain the only other trailer available--it was smaller--but as you see above, it worked
God made sure we had a trailer. Corey, without your help today, we might not have made it!
In the above pictures you can see the team prior to departure, the van and trailer, and finally the team at dinner this evening.
Tomorrow morning the team is scheduled on the 8am and 8:30am shuttles to the airport.
Praise be to God for allowing us to serve Him in Africa, for bringing us together, for providing the funds through so many sources, and for our families and friends back home who love and support us in serving Christ!!!!
Till tomorrow!
Ed

You just flew by Sicily! It's 8:16pm PA time! ...As I watch the lil icon of the plane moving, I'm praying... asking Abba to hold you...to guide you... to give you His peace and His strength. I am praying that He would move mightily in and around you.

ReplyDeleteMatthew 2:13-15
ReplyDeleteWhen they had gone, an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream. “Get up,” he said, “take The Child and His mother and escape to Egypt. Stay there until I tell you, for Herod is going to search for The Child to kill Him.”
So he got up, took The Child and His mother during the night and left for Egypt, where he stayed until the death of Herod. And so was fulfilled what the Lord had said through the prophet: “Out of Egypt I called My Son.”
YES...it is that very same Egypt that YOU ARE NOW FLYING OVER!!! You are crossing over the southwest corner of this country that our Lord spent time in when he was a wee little lad!! At 9:55pm PA time, you have traveled 10 hours and 3 minutes, and crossed 5,926 miles!!!
Following you all on Flight tracker as you are flying over Egypt. Am praying fervently that our awesome God watches over all of you. Love you!

ReplyDeleteThinking of you all this morning. Our church has been having a Missions Conference, and these are the words to our theme song. I couldnt help but think of you all yesterday as I sang...what an awesome opportunity you have to share Christ with the people of Rwanda!! Oh how much Jesus loves these precious people...I pray that the love He has already given you will pour out to the people of Rwanda and that they will meet our Savior! The words of this hymn are taken from Matthew 10:8
ReplyDeleteGod forgave my sin in Jesus' name.
I've been born again in Jesus' name
And in Jesus' name I come to you
To share his love as he told me to.
He said 'Freely, freely you have received;, freely, freely give.
Go in my name, and because you believe others will know that I live.
All pow'r is giv'n in Jesus' name
in earth and heav'n in jesus name
And in Jesus' name I come to you
To share his pow'r as he told me to.
He said 'Freely, freely you have received;, freely, freely give.
Go in my name, and because you believe others will know that I live.
God gives us life in Jesus' name
he lives in us in Jesus' name
And in Jesus' name I come to you
To share his peace as he told me to.
